MoHUA report: Infra services must be included in PMAY 2.0 DPRs
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has mandated that detailed project reports (DPRs) for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 must include comprehensive infrastructure services, such as roads, sewerage, water, and electricity, along with timelines for completion and handover plans.
This directive follows shortcomings identified in the earlier phase of PMAY-U, where housing units were declared complete without essential amenities.
The ministry emphasized that states must ensure social infrastructure like schools, healthcare facilities, and recreational spaces in affordable housing areas by leveraging state or central schemes.
The final installment of central assistance will only be released upon submission of completion certificates for both housing and associated infrastructure. Additionally, MoHUA is collaborating with the finance ministry to design a special loan product enabling beneficiaries to secure housing loans without collateral, further supporting the scheme's goals.
