Ranya Rao believes she was "trapped" in a gold smuggling case and maintains her innocence.
During police interrogation, Kannada star Ranya Rao denied involvement in a gold smuggling scheme. Rather, she allegedly stated that she was "trapped." India Today reported that Rao broke down when the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) questioned her and continued to insist that she was "innocent." She had informed her lawyers that she was having trouble sleeping and kept asking herself, "Why did I get into this?"
"I can't stop wondering why I got involved. I can't stop thinking about that day at the airport. I have trouble falling asleep. During her Friday court appearance, she sobbed as she informed her attorneys, "I am experiencing mental trauma." The most recent allegation runs counter to the actor's public admission to DRI that she was found in possession of 17 gold bars. She visited Europe, America, and the Middle East in addition to Dubai, the statement added.
