UP court asks juvenile justice court to act against SP over misleading report in gang-rape case

Shahjahanpur, A juvenile justice court has been directed by a special court in Farrukhabad to take action against the superintendent of police and two inspectors for filing a false report in a case of gang rape involving a minor, age 14.

The case, which is five months old, concerns a young girl who vanished from her hometown on October 4 of last year. After her return on October 8, gang-rape charges were added, implicating a 16-year-old juvenile and another person, to the original 'missing person' report.

Surendra Kumar Shukla, the victim's counsel, claims that when the accused youngster came before the juvenile court, the court asked the police for a report. However, the boy was granted bail after police filed a report that simply charged him with kidnapping. The Special POCSO Court sentenced the other defendant, Ravindra, also known as Jitendra, to prison.
