What did police confiscate from Kannada star Ranya Rao in the gold smuggling case?
According to news agency PTI, which cited officials in the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Kannada actress Ranya Rao has admitted to owning 17 gold bars. On March 3, DRI officials detained Rao, DGP K Ramachandra Rao's stepdaughter. Currently, her stepfather is the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd.'s chairman and managing director.
She has been remanded in DRI custody until March 10. During her three days in DRI detention, the Bengaluru Economic Offenses Court allowed her to see her attorney for thirty minutes every day. Along after ordering the DRI to give her basic necessities like food and a bed, Justice Vishwanath C. Gowdar also cautioned against treating her harshly while the probe was underway. Later, Rao was spotted driving a black SUV out of the court.
