While stargazing in Hampi, Karnataka, a 27-year-old Israeli tourist got gangraped.

While stargazing on the banks of Sanapur Lake on Thursday night, two women—a 29-year-old homestay operator and a 27-year-old Israeli tourist—were allegedly gang-raped close to Hampi. Three male tourists, two from India and one from the United States, were with the victims when they were attacked at approximately 11 p.m., according to police records.

Arriving on a motorcycle, the accused first asked the group for petrol before requesting ₹100. The attackers became violent when the victims refused, shoving the men into the canal, beating the group, and then sexually abusing the ladies.

Two of the male visitors, Pankaj from Maharashtra and Daniel from the United States, were able to flee, but the third, Bibash from Odisha, is still unaccounted for. To find him, police are currently using their dog squad and fire personnel are conducting a search.
