Doctor Muzammil Shakeel Family Denies Terror Allegations

The recent and alarming dismantling of a transnational terror module operating near the capital has sent shockwaves across the nation, not least because the suspects were seemingly integrated, highly educated professionals. At the centre of this dramatic security operation is the arrest of Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, a doctor and faculty member from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, who was working at a private university hospital in Faridabad, Haryana. However, as the police reveal details of a massive explosives haul, the accused’s family is forcefully challenging the terror narrative, insisting on his complete innocence.

In an emotional public statement, the mother and brother of Dr. Shakeel have come forward to deny terror allegations against him. His brother, Azad Shakeel, speaking from their ancestral home in Kashmir, stated unequivocally, “It is being alleged that he is a big terrorist. We have no knowledge of it. For the past five decades, there has been no case against anyone from our family.

The police investigation, a joint effort by J&K and Haryana police, paints a starkly different picture. The operation, launched following the appearance of pro-Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) posters in Srinagar, led to the arrest of Dr. Shakeel from Faridabad’s Dhauj area.
