Trump Says US Hit Iran’s Fordow Nuclear Site 'Like Absolute Butter

US President Donald Trump has claimed that bombs dropped by American B-2 stealth bombers on Iran’s fortified Fordow nuclear facility penetrated its defenses “like butter,” during the June 22 strike dubbed Operation Midnight Hammer.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump detailed how Iran had attempted to fortify the Fordow entrance, but the bunker-buster bombs "went through it like it was absolute butter." According to Trump, the strike, which also hit Natanz and Isfahan, “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, particularly Fordow—widely regarded as Iran’s most secure underground nuclear site, buried beneath a mountain.

He dismissed reports that Iran managed to relocate highly-enriched uranium prior to the attack, a claim previously made by Israeli sources to The New York Times. “We didn’t give them much notice. They didn’t know we were coming until just then,” Trump said, referring to the element of surprise.

Operation Midnight Hammer was triggered after Tehran reportedly ignored a US ultimatum to halt uranium enrichment. The strikes employed advanced weaponry, including GBU-57 bunker busters and Tomahawk cruise missiles, and were a direct response to escalating Iran-Israel tensions that began on June 13.

While Trump asserted that the attack set Iran’s nuclear ambitions back “by decades,” UN nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi offered a more cautious assessment, stating Iran could resume uranium production “in a matter of months.”

In the same Fox interview, Trump also addressed unrelated matters, saying the US will halt trade talks with Canada over taxes and hinting that a wealthy group of investors is poised to acquire TikTok, which faces a possible US ban due to its Chinese ownership. He promised to reveal their identities “in about two weeks.”
