In North Bengal, six BJP MPs and MLAs were detained in assault charges; the BJP will petition the HC

Kolkata: According to police on Thursday, six individuals from north Bengal were taken into custody in relation to the alleged attacks on a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha on September 6 and another BJP MLA the following day.

According to Khandbahale Umesh Ganpath, the district superintendent of police, the accused, Etwa Oraon, Govind Sharma, Akramul Haque, Sahanur Alam, and Tofayel Hossain, all of whom lived in Khayerbari, West Bengal, were taken into custody between Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.

Five persons were detained, according to police, for allegedly beating Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh and BJP member Khagen Murmu in the Nagrakata assembly constituency in Bengal's Jalpaiguri district on September 6 when they were touring flood-affected villages. Murmu was brought to a hospital after suffering facial injuries.
