PM Modi opened the Navi Mumbai airport, which offers "anxiety-free" digital features, flights, and prices

On Wednesday, October 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the first phase of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). The modern airport is scheduled to open for business in December 2025. It is anticipated that ticket sales will begin around the end of October. Flights on IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India Express are now available.

The construction of the Navi Mumbai airport cost ₹19,650 crore. Mumbai is now included in the list of cities or larger metropolitan areas with numerous airports worldwide. Tokyo, New York, and London are a few more. In addition to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, the larger metropolitan region includes the airports in Ghaziabad (Hindon) and the soon-to-be Jewar (Noida).

Being India's first totally digital airport, it offers online baggage drop booking, immigration services, and the ability to reserve parking spaces in advance. According to Arun Bansal, CEO of Adani Airports Holdings Limited (AAHL), which oversees the airport, it is a "anxiety-free" airport because of the digital features that reduce wait times and provide convenience at every turn. For instance, he stated, "you will be able to receive a message on your phone informing you that your bag is number 20 on the carousel."
