The arrest of the Coldrif owner: How police carefully prepared to apprehend G Ranganathan following the cough syrup incident

Following the deaths of multiple children, the Madhya Pradesh Police arrested G Ranganathan, the owner of Sresan Pharma in Tamil Nadu, in the early hours of Thursday in connection with the case of adulterated cough syrup, with the assistance of Chennai Police. Numerous states have reported child fatalities linked to Ranganathan's company's "Coldrif" cough syrup.

To find and apprehend Ranganathan, teams from the Chennai and Madhya Pradesh police departments began a search. A senior police official said that after a midnight raid, the business owner was arrested and brought to the Sunguvarchatram police station for questioning. Following the deaths of more than 20 Madhya Pradesh children who allegedly consumed "contaminated" cough syrup produced at the facility, the Tamil Nadu government closed the factory.

The government ordered the withdrawal of Coldrif cough syrup supplies from the market and banned the product in the state as of October 1. Following the arrival of the Madhya Pradesh Police team on October 7, the police teams began searching for G Ranganathan, who was apprehended at 1:30 am on Thursday. His Kancheepuram factory also yielded some records to the police.
