Bihar assembly election dates are all eyes on as the EC team lead by Gyanesh Kumar travels to Patna
Gyanesh Kumar, the chief election commissioner, led a group from the Election Commission of India (ECI) that arrived in Patna on Friday to assess the state of the polls for the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Election Commissioners Vivek Joshi and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu are also on the team.
Usually, a few days before the election schedule is announced, the Election Commission travels to a state that is scheduled to hold elections. The state elections must be finished before November 22, as that is when the Bihar Assembly's term ends. Meetings with representatives of the 12 officially recognized political parties in the state marked the start of the poll body's visit to Bihar.
"ECI delegation led by CEC Gyanesh Kumar and ECs Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi arrives in Patna today to review poll preparedness for forthcoming Bihar Assembly Elections," the ECI wrote on X, sharing the visit on social media. According to a press release from the poll body quoted by news agency ANI, the ECI held a briefing for General, Police, and Expenditure Observers before to their visit. These observers will serve as Central Observers for the Bihar assembly elections and several bye-elections.
