The collective wealth of Indian billionaires surpasses entire GDP of this oil-rich country
The Hurun Global Rich List 2025 provides some insight into the enormous wealth held by India's wealthiest. India is home to 284 billionaires, and their combined wealth exceeds the GDP of some countries, including one oil-rich Middle Eastern country. The country ranks third in the world in terms of billionaire population, behind only China and the US. The total wealth of Indian billionaires is an astounding ₹98 lakh crore, which is more than the GDP of Saudi Arabia.
The petroleum industry makes up a sizable amount of Saudi Arabia's economy, making it one of the biggest producers and exporters of oil in the world. It is classified as a high-income economy by the World Bank. Among the main economies of the G20, it is also the sole Arab nation.
According to Hurun, India is home to 284 billionaires, compared to the USA’s 870 and China’s 823. In total, the world has 3,442 billionaires. Mukesh Ambani, chairperson of Reliance Industries, reclaimed the crown of India’s richest person from Gautam Adani. Ambani’s net worth is estimated at ₹8.6 lakh crore, making up an impressive chunk of the ₹98 lakh crore combined fortune of Indian billionaires.
