A parliamentary panel advocates for the introduction of a broadcast bill

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been asked by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology to present the new Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill to parliament as soon as feasible.

The group convened at Parliament House Annexe earlier this month. Nishikant Dubey, a member of parliament and panel chairman for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), attended the meeting along with representatives from several ministries. The Cable Television Network Act of 1995 is being replaced by this measure.

A revised version of the bill is being drafted by the ministry and will be distributed for interministerial review. After that, the cabinet will be asked to review the draft bill.
