60 booked in Agra after flesh found at Jama Masjid sparks protest

Following a demonstration outside the Jama Masjid on Friday after some people found a packet of animal flesh inside the mosque, police in Uttar Pradesh are said to have filed cases against over 60 people. Shortly after Friday prayers concluded, the crowd erupted in outrage, calling for harsh punishment for the person who had put the meat in the mosque. 

"The man who put the piece of meat inside the mosque has been charged with a crime. Those who caused chaos outside the Jama Masjid have also been charged. Deputy Commissioner of Police Sonam Kumar stated that approximately 60 individuals were mentioned in the FIR for their participation in the demonstration.

Nazruddin, a male, was charged with placing a package of animal meat inside the Jama Masjid in Agra's Manola neighborhood late Thursday night. Locals were disturbed when the event was discovered the next morning, right before the weekly Friday prayers, according to police quoted in the PTI article.
