‘400 Hindus forced to flee': Bengal BJP's Suvendu Adhikari after Murshidabad violence over Waqf Act
Suvendu Adhikari, the head of the Bharatiya Janata Party, said on Sunday that over 400 Hindus had been "forced to flee" their homes in Dhulian, in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal, after a Waqf law-related incident that reportedly claimed three lives. Suvendu Adhikari accused the Trinamool Congress, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, of engaging in "appeasement politics" that had "emboldened radical elements."
In a post on X, Adhikari stated, "Over 400 Hindus from Dhulian, Murshidabad were forced to flee across the river & take shelter at Par Lalpur High School, Deonapur-Sovapur GP, Baisnabnagar, Malda, due to fear of religiously motivated bigots." He also called on the state and district police, as well as the Border Security Force, or BSF, that was stationed there, to make sure that everyone returned safely.
"I implore the State Police, the district administration, and the Central Paramilitary Forces stationed in the area to guarantee the safe return of these displaced Hindus and to defend their lives against this act of jihadist terror." Bengal is on fire. There is a rift in society. "Enough is enough," he wrote in his message.
