Amit Shah calls all CMs, asks them to identify Pakistanis in India

Union Home Minister Amit Shah called with all chief ministers on Friday about the recent Pahalgam terror attack and asked them to identify Pakistani nationals in their respective states. Shah directed them to inform the Centre of all Pakistani nationals so that their visas may be terminated. The leader also urged chief ministers to take steps to secure the people's early return to Pakistan.

The Indian government declared on Wednesday that Pakistani nationals will not be able to travel to India under the SAARC visa exemption scheme (SVES), and that any Pakistani national currently in India on an SVES visa had 48 hours to leave. On April 24, the Ministry of External Affairs released a press release stating that all existing valid visas given by India to Pakistani nationals would be withdrawn beginning April 27.

"Medical visas issued to Pakistani nationals will only be valid until April 29." All Pakistani nationals in India must depart before their visas expire, as modified, according to a press release. The decision was made in response to the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which murdered 26 innocent persons, the majority of them were civilians.
