Odisha University takes action against 100 students for 'indiscipline'

In Sambalpur, The Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla in Odisha has taken action against 100 students for a variety of breaches, including poor attendance and visiting restricted and banned locations, according to an official. Following a meeting of the Disciplinary Committee on April 25, the university issued an order stating all 100 students' names and punishments.

The majority of the students are in their third year, followed by 11 in their fourth, 11 in their first, two in their second, and one in their master's program. The consequences include a one-grade reduction in theory papers for the current semester based on the mid-semester test schedule, and fines ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000, according to the directive.

Some students have also been allocated to do social work under the direction of the vice president of sports or dormitory wardens. The list includes the names of six fourth-year female students who broke the restriction order by visiting Fishery Point of Hirakud reservoir in Burla, resulting in the unfortunate death of a fellow student earlier this month, officials said.
