Mamata Banerjee meets Bengal teachers who lost jobs: ‘Ready to even go to jail if…’

In a meeting with thousands of teaching and non-teaching employees who lost their employment in government-run and aided schools as a result of a recent Supreme Court decision that eliminated over 25,000 appointments, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee referred to the hiring process as "vitiated."

"I stand by those who lost their jobs in schools in Bengal," Mamata Banerjee said as hundreds of impacted people gathered at Kolkata's Netaji Indoor Stadium for the meeting. I'll stop at nothing to restore their honor.

Despite being obliged by the Supreme Court's ruling, she said, the state administration "will take proactive steps to ensure the situation is handled with utmost care and fairness." "I refuse to let qualified applicants lose their school jobs. Mamata Banerjee declared, "If anyone wants to punish me for standing with those who lost school jobs, I'm even willing to go to jail."
