Char Dham Yatra: Over 5,000 devotees attend Yamunotri and Gangotri on the first day
The Char Dham Yatra commenced on Wednesday with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples in Uttarakhand for pilgrims, coinciding with Akshay Tritiya, officials announced on Tuesday. Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand's chief minister, was present at the Gangotri shrine and offered prayers.
"I congratulate everyone on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. The Char Dham Yatra has officially began with the opening of the Yamunotri and Gangotri gateways, according to Dhami. According to the tourism agency, more than 5,000 pilgrims visited Yamunotri and Gangotri on the first day. So far, 22,52,212 pilgrims have registered for the yatra, with 22,30,799 online and 21,553 offline as of 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
"For the people of Uttarakhand, the Char Dham Yatra is like a grand festival," Suresh Semwal, secretary of the Gangotri Temple Committee, explained. "All arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth, safe, and hassle-free pilgrimage for all devotees" , the official stated. "The portals of Yamunotri shrine were opened at 11:55 a.m. on Wednesday," Purshotam Uniyal, spokesperson for the Yamunotri Temple Committee, stated. The Uttarakhand district administration has also made elaborate measures to assure pilgrims' safety and convenience.
