India-Pakistan tensions: Amritsar Police arrests two for "sharing sensitive Army info"
As part of a counter-espionage operation, Punjab's Amritsar Police arrested two individuals on Saturday for allegedly sharing private information and photographs of nearby Army cantonment locations and air bases. Following the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, tensions between India and Pakistan have increased, which coincides with the arrests.
The suspects, identified by the Amritsar Rural Police as Palak Sher Masih and Suraj Masih, were linked to Pakistani intelligence agents through Harpreet Singh, also known as Pittu, who is presently being held at the Amritsar Central Jail. Amritsar Rural SSP Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and DGP Gaurav Yadav have given explicit instructions to act quickly against any anti-national elements as soon as reliable evidence is obtained, Maninder Singh said news agency ANI.
According to preliminary analyses, the BSF's sophisticated counter-drone systems may have created technical issues that led to the crash of both drones. According to the official statement, such drone incursions are still successfully prevented by the BSF and Punjab Police working together.
