Bengaluru airport cancels 29 flights due to airspace restrictions in several areas of North India

An unannounced restriction of airspace over northern India on Wednesday, May 7, caused disruptions to flight operations at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru. According to airport officials, a total of 29 flights were canceled, affecting both arrivals and departures. Fourteen of the cancellations were scheduled departures, and fifteen were incoming flights to Bengaluru. Although the precise causes of the shutdown were not made public, the interruption was ascribed to temporary airspace limitations in the northern region.

As a result, KIA released a passenger caution advising travelers to confirm the status of their flights prior to departing for the airport. On May 7, 2025, certain flights have been canceled due to current airspace limitations. Before leaving for the airport, we ask travelers to check their status with their individual airlines. We value your cooperation and understanding at this period," the advice said. Passengers were informed by the airlines of potential flight cancellations and delays.

Numerous domestic routes were impacted by the cancellations, which had repercussions for major airlines based in Bengaluru. In order to control passenger flow and reduce disruption, airport officials stated that they were actively collaborating with airline operators.
