The body of JU instructors exhorts restless students to attend lessons and take tests.

Following the March 1 incident in which one of their peers was allegedly gravely hurt after West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu's car brushed past him during a protest on campus, the Jadavpur University Teachers Association (JUTA) on Saturday urged protesting leftist students at the prestigious university to reevaluate their decision to skip classes and semester exams.

Additionally, officiating JU vice-chancellor Bhaskar Gupta urged students and "other stakeholders" to take action to return things to normal in the university's best interests, especially with regard to academic pursuits, research, and administrative duties. Since March 5, Gupta has been receiving medical care in a hospital. He stated, "let democracy prevail and all issues resolved through dialogues."

However, JUTA emphasized that its goal was to prevent academic activities from being disrupted by the commotion, which had been going on for a week, rather than to compel the students to stop until their requests were granted.
