Bernie Sanders praises Harvard for rejecting Trump Administration's demands

Bernie Sanders, the US Senator for Vermont, has commended Harvard for refusing to accept the Trump Administration's requirements for federal funding and advised other academic institutions to do the same. "Congratulations to Harvard for standing up to Trump's dictatorship and refusing to cede its constitutional liberties.

"They should set an example for other universities," Sanders wrote on X. "And cowardly law firms should be defending those who believe in the rule of law instead of doing pro bono work for Trump," he continued.

Earlier this month, the Trump administration announced that Harvard University will have to fulfill a number of requirements in order to be eligible to receive almost USD 9 billion in government funding. The goal of this action was to reduce antisemitism and activity on campuses. The demands were rejected by Harvard. The institution said in a statement that governments shouldn't meddle in a private university's operations.
