Four hundred lightning strikes hit the UK.Flooded roads and chaotic travel

Heavy rain, hail, and thunderstorms swept through the East Midlands and southern England on Saturday, causing severe weather conditions. About 400 lightning strikes were reported in the UK, and isolated flooding was caused by severe rainfall.

Flooding and Road Closures

Parts of the M18 in Yorkshire were closed on Saturday due to floods, according to National Highways. Additionally, because of lingering floods, portions of the M40 near Warwick were closed into Sunday. Drivers have been advised by authorities to use caution and to keep abreast of travel advisories
